It’s the 1980s, in the East Kootenays of British Columbia, Canada. In a dank corner of a poorly lit, regional mall, a clandestine smokey cave of explosive sounds and colours cuts through the dismal, drudgery of day-to-day life. Local adventurers, outcasts and misfits, gather in this portal to countless new worlds. A neon sign above the entrance reads: “ELECTRONIC ENCOUNTERS.”

My love for gaming began at my local arcade. I can’t begin to imagine the quarters and hours spent playing coin-op games throughout my adolescence. When it came to choosing a banner to develop games under, it made sense to me to pay homage to the place where it all started.

As a child, the first home console I laid my hands on was the Atari 2600. Through the years I’ve owned every Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft console, and even a few Segas and other obscure brands here and there.

Dungeons & Dragons gave me my first taste of game creation and story authoring, in 1994, when I was 11 years Old. I knew then I had to make a career out of this!

Lately, my inspiration comes from several pastimes and a love of old technology. Over the years I’ve cultivated a collection of cameras, classic game consoles, and a modest assortment of synthesizers. When I need to rekindle my creative spark, I take a trip back through time and read classic TTRPG books; muddle through electronic music composition; shoot photographs; or warm up some archaic hardware.
